I am an MD looking to become a physician executive and exploring MBA programs.
Initially, I assumed healthcare MBA was the better degree. But I have spoken to a few med directors who believe a general MBA is a more well rounded education, and that you can learn the healthcare topics on the job (and probably already have a good working knowledge just by practicing). Also, a general MBA will not pigeon hole you to a healthcare career, ie more options in future should you decide to leave healthcare.
What are your thoughts? I do not know which route to take as these arguments were not all that compelling to me.
