I applied through OTCAS and CALSTATE Apply and heard I was accepted Friday (11/6). I submitted my application like 3 days before it was due, idk if when you submit makes much difference especially since they don't do rolling admissions.
I'm so excited to connect with everybody!

I'm nervous as well, but it seems they're releasing decisions in batches. We definitely have a chance!

In the acceptance letter it detailed what next steps would be and said the application cycle won’t be complete until “around early December” so there is still plenty of time for everyone! Good luck and keep your heads up! :)

I recall in the "Steps to Complete the MSOT Application" section, that applicants may be contacted for an interview? I'm not sure if they're following through with that, but there is a possibility for the next batch of acceptances! Keep your hopes up!

I was so surprised when I got the acceptance email, I assumed it was an invitation to come interview and had to re-read the letter like five times. I wonder if they'll do interviews at all with COVID going on, they'd be over phone or zoom probably.
As others have said there definitely is still time! I wasn't expecting to hear back until late Nov./early Dec. And CSUDH is on such different timing, a lot of other schools' apps are due this month. So as people hear back from multiple programs waitlist spots may open up too.

Hi everyone! congrats to all who have been accepted :) I received my acceptance on Friday, 11/06/20! For those who have been accepted and confirmed their admission via email, did any of you get an email back confirming that they received your email? Haven’t received one yet so just wanted to see if anybody is on the same boat. Lol

Hi! I sent in my confirmation email mid-day on a Wednesday and they responded about 3 hours later saying they received my confirmation. If you’re worried I would just follow up with them! Congrats!

Thank you for that! I’ll definitely follow up tomorrow. When you emailed them, was it just your student response and commitment page and also your confirmation page of the materials fee?

Yep! My student response and commitment page and the fee receipt. I just said “please see attached” and thanked them :)

Hi everyone! I was just accepted to CSUDH on the 6th as well! I'm trying to decide whether or not to accept my offer or wait on other schools I've applied to in CA. For those of you that accepted, what were some of the things that factored into your decision to attend? I love that it is one of the less expensive schools in CA, but I really don't know much more about the program! Thanks in advance :)

For those that were accepted, is there a date you need to give confirmation by? Just trying to figure out when they'll mail out the next acceptance letters... still haven't heard anything, but I'm hoping soon! Even if Im denied, I'm dying to know!

Hi all! Thank you so much for sharing your info on here. I'm working on pre-reqs and looking to apply next year, and it's extremely helpful to hear from those of you who are already going through the process. Would anyone mind sharing what extracurricular activities they included in their application? I'm really not sure what to highlight, the prompt is pretty broad ("clubs/organizations, accomplishments, other volunteer, special interest"). Thanks again!

Hi! Congratulations on being accepted!! For me personally, I chose this program because of the cost. I actually was supposed to start my program at Dominican University this past August but I opted out after committing because it was a financial burden. With loans, my projected future would be paying loads of interest for YEARS and it just wasn't worth it. This program is definitely worth it because of its affordability and is still a great program! Networking and connections will be different from school to school, same with prestige, but all in all, we'll all get the same degree and work in the same settings.

The main factor in my acceptance was all of the positive things I heard about the program while I was shadowing at UCLA Hospital in Westwood. They have several staff OT's who are graduates of the CSUDH program and they all raved about the program. I also had the opportunity to meet several current CSUDH MSOT students who were completing their level II clinicals at UCLA and they all had very positive things to say as well. Good luck with your decision.

I think you made a very wise choice. The CSUDH MSOT program is such a bargain price for instate students and the program is well respected in the industry (based on my conversations with OT's that have hired graduates from CSUDH) so the price should not be an indication of the quality of the program.

I think I was in the first wave, I had to confirm by Nov 9th. My letter did say that they will not have all of the students who are admitted until the beginning of December. You still have plenty of time but I know it must be stressful, I'm sending you positive vibes.

Hello! Congrats to everyone that has been accepted for far! My application status has just changed to "you have been admitted to the university." After reading through this forum, I saw that earlier comments mentioned that this status update does not necessarily mean that the program has accepted the application yet, right? I am just a little confused and don't want to get my hopes up, just in case I actually dont get into the program hahaha. Has everyone that received that status change gotten into the program as well? Thank you in advance!

Just to chime in, I got the same thing this morning! I thought that that meant that I was admitted to the program already, but I have not gotten an email yet

I think most of us were in the same position. I was really excited when I saw the status change on a Thursday. I 'kinda' celebrated because of what I saw on the forum (seeing that most did end up getting an email/letter eventually). I waited for the email confirmation, which I got the next day on a Friday! Then, I celebrated! Just wait! So, close!

Congrats everyone who has gotten their acceptances today! Unfortunately, I still haven't heard back from csudh. Very disheartening but I think It's likely they are waiting for the end of the application cycle to reject me. In any case I'll try to remain optimistic and patient while also awaiting for other schools to respond to me.

I got my email of acceptance this morning! I am having trouble accessing/activating my toromail icon on myCSUDH.com. I think I need to wait until Monday to contact IT. Also, are we going to receive another email that tells us how to give our intent to enroll? Thank you in advance!

Same.... but we still dont know yet! Haha, I'm not giving up hope. I emailed them Friday and they said everyone will have heard back by beginning of December. But I also feel since I haven't heard, they are waiting until the end to send out denials :/ But who knows really, some people may not accept this program as their first choice, they still need to go through the waitlist, etc. !

For those of you who were accepted, would you mind sharing your stats? It might help us who are denied see what areas we should work on :)

You should eventually need to submit your Confirmation of Acceptance Form and an OT Materials Fee Receipt. I also had trouble with the Toromail icon at first and called IT. They created a ticket but not sure if they did anything because I never received feedback. Maybe about 2 days later I tried again and was able to log into it so not sure if it was a system update or something like that.

I got mine too! And if you havent already, you should soon because I also got the official department acceptance letter a few hours ago. I havent tried accessing my Toromail but I will probably do that once I have everything settled regarding confirmation of acceptance and $150 Materials fee! Congrats! :)

I was never able to create my ToroMail either!! Not sure why. I was assuming it wouldn't be available until the cohort is final, but maybe I'll reach out to IT as well.

I've been checking this forum for weeks, and I'm posting now since I found people's comments and updates helpful to ease some of the anxiety I was feeling. It's comforting to know others are experiencing the waiting game, too.

I received an admissions offer and will most likely be attending. Classes for the OT program start on January 11, which is a little bit earlier than when the rest of the university begins the spring semester.

My portal changed status to "you have been admitted to the university" on Friday 11/20. It was confusing because I received a separate general acceptance email from the CSUDH admission office on Saturday 11/21. I only let myself celebrate a little since I wanted to be absolutely sure that I got into the OT program. I received my acceptance letter from the OT department this morning (11/23) and my deadline to respond is 11/30. So for those of you who are still waiting, know that there's a possibility for the department to send out offers after November ends.

Looking forward to meeting some of you soon, and best wishes to everyone who's still waiting to hear back. I get that it's hard to be patient. You've worked so hard for years to reach this point of applying and that's already something to be proud of. Remember that your admissions decision (whether you're admitted, waitlisted, or denied) is not an evaluation of your worth as a person. We will all become amazing OTs if that's our goal! :)

I just received an acceptance email being admitted as a graduate student into the university but unsure if it means the OT program. I'm unsure whether to feel elated lol

That happened to me as well! I called the graduate admissions department because I was confused, and they told me I was admitted to the program as well, the emails were just out of sync. You're most likely admitted to the program, but you should give them a call for some peace of mind. I didn't receive my OT acceptance until hours later.

I wasn't formally rejected yet, but I'm assuming I was. The "Application Status" link is now gone from my MY CSUDH homepage.... but when I find it through the student menu it still says "application was sent to the department for review".
But I'm just assuming it's a no... I feel like I'd have heard by now :(
