so they decrease the AP duration by blocking the slow sodium window current, decreasing the plateau phase and thus decreases overall AP duration, but at the same time lidocaine says to prevent the hypoxic ischemic tissue from going back to the resting ready phase(M gate closed H gate Open) and keeps the cells within the inactive refactory phase(M gate open H gate closed). How is this possible, if it prevents it from going to the resting ready phase, shouldn't that prolong the AP?
