Advice needed- laptop for CCOM

I'm going to be a MSI and am planning to buy a new laptop for school. Does anyone know if there are disadvantages to using a mac at CCOM? Are there any applications that MS students use that are not available for macs?

Also, I got a Palm TX as a graduation gift. Are there any applications useful for the first year of school that I should consider buying now?

You don't really need a specific computer at CCOM because we don't really use them in class. We basically have our notes in the beginning of the quarter. Anyhow, I have an hp and some classmates of mine have Mac, so it depends on your preference. As far as the PDAs, you don't need one yet. People usually buy them when they start rotations. Hope that helps.
