I believe I applied 8/24ish. However, it was special circumstances where I had set up the visit during Summer because I couldn't make their Campus Visit weekend. Once I told them I had submitted my application they decided to make it my formal interview.

Ah, I see. I sent in my application on the 30th of Sept. I will be in attendance for visit day later this month, so I'm hoping to potentially interview then. How was it?

It was fine, very conversational and relaxed. I had one 30 min interview with the director of admissions and another 30 minute interview with the associate and executive directors. We talked about my experience, why Sloan, what I want to do after. Pretty standard stuff, no curveballs.

To be honest, I'm having a difficult time deciding on programs to apply to. I'm looking to stay Northern East Coast & am concerned about the affordability of school and its location. I'm not applying to programs in NYC or Boston, because of $$ and not wanting to live in those cities. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated:)

I think it might help if you also mention what type of program you are looking for. A school with an extensive alumni network? A school in the top 10 ranking? A school that has contacts with local hospitals in the region? Another thing that might be important to consider is if you're looking to go into the consulting route or primarily want to stay in the hospital administration route. Depending on which one you are looking into can shape what schools would be a good fit for you as well.

Also one thing I didn't know when I applied last year is that GWU is a 3 year program, not 2 years. So it's 2 years didactic learning and a third year as an administrative resident which means you earn your degree at the end of your 3rd year.

I got the response from Cornell because I applied early for their MBA. I called the other schools I applied to and asked if they could review my application under special circumstances (Cornell MBA has given me a deadline of 11/28 to accept and deposit). Michigan, Minnesota, and Columbia all said they do not starting reviewing applications until mid-November and would not be able to accommodate my request. So I think most of the schools haven't started reviewing yet :)

I can't speak to Minnesota specifically, but my guess would be 2-4 weeks. The email notifications I have received have mostly been in that time frame.

Just got an interview invitation from UNC! Has anyone interviewed with them yet? If so, how did it go? Any pointers?

I got the invitation as well. Did you get the 3 dates of 12/7 and two later dates in January? I don't know much else besides what they said in the email of it being 30-45 minutes. Which date did you choose? I couldn't make the December date so mine is 1/28.

Yes, I got the same email with the same dates. I chose Dec 7th just because I don't know if I can handle the stress of waiting that long haha. I think I am going to ask who is interviewing me though. I'm going to read back through the previous years applicants to try and get some advice. I'll let you know how it goes though.

I heard back from Cornell, but I am also due to odd circumstances. From my understanding, and I'm paraphrasing Julie here, they are using a new system for the application process and you won't hear back from them until after the new year. That said, from the time I was told I would be receiving formal interview, it took about a month for them to accept me.

My interview with Johns Hopkins was very straightforward. 1 30 minute interview with Teresa Schwartz and 1 30 minute interview with Mark Bittle (Program Directors). They both only asked basic questions (walk through the resume, why JH, what I want to do with the degree) and I found them trying to sell their program to me more than anything. I wouldn't expect any curve balls. I received my offer within less than 2 weeks of being interviewed.

Cheers! Send me a private message (I can't send you one) and we can connect on Facebook. I'm not sure of any other students being admitted yet, but I can coordinate with Julie and get a Facebook group going for our class. Could be a good way to informally get to know everyone.

Congratulations on getting those interviews! Glad I could help! Feel free to reach out if you want about interview tips with OSU, Iowa since I did those last year!

Hope the application process is going well for everyone.

I have an interview with both VCU and UAB coming up. Does anyone have much experience with either of these programs? From what I can tell both are pretty heavily focused on operations. It seems like VCU caters a bit more to the for-profit side of healthcare with organizations like HCA.

For those of you applying to these programs what made you want to apply to them?

I got the invitation as well. Did you get the 3 dates of 12/7 and two later dates in January? I don't know much else besides what they said in the email of it being 30-45 minutes. Which date did you choose? I couldn't make the December date so mine is 1/28.

UNC interview went great. I was really impressed with the program and the interview process was pretty relaxed. Let me know if you have any questions about it

I'm an undergraduate student who is heavily involved with the graduate program here at UAB. I have a lot of friends in the graduate program and am close with nearly all of the professors. Ask me whatever you'd like about the program/process and I'll do my best to answer.

Thank you! They might be my top choice, but it really depends on what kind of aid I get. Yeah when talking with current students and alumni while there they had nothing but great things to say about the program!
