I got the same email. I think it's what they send to everyone and that there's no way to know if you are on the short list.

I'm sure it's nerve wrecking waiting all this time without an invite. I just wanna to provide some encouragement... stay positive and hopeful. Talk to your mentors and see what advice they might have, consider sending in letters of interest to programs, try to get Attendings to call up programs on ur behalf.. Also as u know, several programs are sending multiple waves of invites so keep ur fingers crossed!

It would be interesting to know what state cutoffs you are using for the regions. That would probably require you to do a lot of typing though haha.

What if western and northeastern regions have less programs? Shouldn't we calculate #invites from a particular region/programs in that region? Or they are equally distributed?
 
I think a much more valuable exercise is for each candidate to look at their own list of schools where they have applied - look at the number of schools that have sent out invites, and analyze the numbers in their own case. The above was just a quick and cursory analysis.

Got email from Colorado saying that they will send invites out Oct. 25th and their interview dates are Dec. 4th and Dec. 8th.

I think there are enough people here that we wouldn't miss any first wave invites. Second and third wave invites that go out to far fewer people might pass under the radar.

What I'm wondering is if we can get a rejection list going because that can provide valuable info too

I haven't heard anything either, and I'm personally gonna assume a rejection or maybe a waitlist situation at best... In any case I'm going to book my flight to and from Iowa assuming that I won't get Cleveland Clinic.

On their website, they say that they will indicate when all interviews have been given out. They still haven't indicated that.
 
Out of curiosity, how long are people waiting (to hear back from school X) before they book their plane tickets (for school Y, in the same region as school X). I figure when it gets to be 2-3 weeks before the interview date, its probably time to get the ticket before airfare rises more? Maybe I'm being too conservative about this and I should wait longer?

I got an email invite late friday afternoon. The email said the first day had almost filled up so it seems like maybe they've been sending invites all week. I declined the interview, so hopefully it can go to someone who is a better fit! Good luck!!

Also, their 'criteria' for interview includes "Board scores above the 90th percentile." Does anyone know what those numbers tend to be? After all that 'getting rid of 2-digit score'-fiasco, where does one find the 90th percentile for their step 1? The average for my exam was a 224 with a SD of 22, so something slightly less than a 268? (which seems kind of outrageous IMO as a screening criteria....)

268 is 2 SDs above the mean, which correlates to ~97.5th percentile. The 90th percentile is ~1.28 SDs above the mean, so about 252 with the example mean of 224 and SD of 22. Still seems outrageously high though!
