Lol I tried not to be on here last night and went to the movies, but there was a thunderstorm and all the lights went out, so I brought my ass back home. I knew I was not supposed to try that "going out" thing.
 
Hey everyone! I thought I would stop by and chat now that its a little more lively in this forum. I saw 1.5 of those M2M shows and thought it was poor taste! Initially, when I saw the previews I was like, "perhaps a show we have never seen before and AA women doctors as role models." Heck no! That show should be ripped from television. If we don't have enough ghetto mess broadcasted already. I can't believe they agreed to do that show. Anyway that's my rant!

I'm super excited to start med school this fall. I will be turning 28 yo in September so I am a bit on the nontraditional side. I'm currently working at a medical school. Graduated in 2009 with BS in biochemistry and 2011 with BS microbiology (DIY postbac).

Well, I will resign at end of June. Plan to move in my apartment mid-July. Plan to learn how to swim again since it didn't stick as a child, so I can do some water sports. I plan to skydive hopefully by the second time once I get first one done over the next month. Relax and hang with friends. To to casinos and travel.

When are you planning to apply again? I think I remember reading on the other thread that you are interested in MD/PhD, right? I talked myself in and out of that. I realized that I didn't want to do research on a full time basis but I still would like to engage in it. I'm interested in neuroscience, neurodegenerative diseases and psychiatric illnesses.

That sounds like fun! Definitely live it up yo lol I'm interested in neuroscience and neurodegenerative diseases as well ;) although you've probably studied it more intensely than I have based off your background.

Not even, I was in the club, you know VIP type ish. Poppin bottles, throwing med school tuition around and got bored of being surrounded by beautiful women and rappers on mollies so i decided to check SDN on my iPhone 7s:smuggrin:

On another note between this thread and AA women thread, i'm really starting to enjoying coming back to the Under represented threads. They are getting more lively then previous years..

:rofl: I was just think that though! It used to seem really really dead here. Like some people would post a thread and it doesn't get commented on until several days later. But there definitely seems to be more traffic now! :D

On some real ****...when I went to the SNMA national conference I was so surprised by how many intelligent pre-medical and medical students were turning up to some RATCHET music

I was sitting in the corner like who listens to Erykah Badu or Blackstar? Maybe I'm just too old :laugh:
 
Glad I joined during the revival of this forum! ^_^ really though you guys sound so cool! I wish I knew more people like you in real life. My sister suggested I join Meetup.com, she's been salsa dancing and zip lining with people on there... Idk if I like the stranger factor though. Haha

Yes i am interested on MD/PhD programs, I won't be applying until 2015, possibly earlier...I interested in the all the above you mentioned, and neuro developmental disorders that are present in premature babies.
 
soo i finally watch doctors diaries--it was really good, and honest! so cool to see the progression of things---wish there was more footage. anyone else notice how the people who did ROADS specialities aged better and seemed less flustered and more content? Tom was my fave--I can't believe he had troubles finding a job for a spell

I'm down with salsa dancing (I think it may be illegal to be Puerto Rican and not be) but I'm definitely hesitant with the zip-lining lol. The stranger factor of the online thing definitely is a little unsettling but I know plenty of people who have had good experiences with both online dating and finding local social groups on the internet.

Yes I am struggling...but I may have had a break through last night. I had a pretty solid draft going but it definitely had some flaws but I feel I may have saved it haha. We shall see, but time is dwindling!

I think its worth trying, all my college age friends are in frats and sororities, and not too bash those groups, but it is a completely different lifestyle than those of us who live in our own homes off campus. Seems like all my friends want to go get drunk every weekend and I'm just not for that. I'd like to do more enriching things... Ahh the struggle for mature/fun combos.

I'm new to SDN and I just stumbled upon this thread. Its good to see other URM's applying to medical school. Its definitely motivation for me.

I have nothing against drinking I just don't need to do it ALL the time lol I get where you're coming from ;) I'm gonna try that meet up website I've beer even heard of that till now! I'm not looking for someone to necessarily date but I would mind finding a new group if fun friends in my area!

There's black pre meds at my school but all the ones I'm close with either decided not to go to med school or are still trying to but have no ambition or drive and aim for the absolute minimum work they can do just to get in. I never really liked any of them that much either lol I like you guys tho!

I feel like it's a little easier for girls to find dates and new friends then guys. Online dating = facebook/instagram with a butt pic. All the guys will come hollering then :smuggrin:

Hello today everyone! Currently sitting in a casino after losing my $. Yes it's one of those kind of days. I actually went to my 8-5 too. Lol! I don't live far from casinos before you ask so I can pick up and go anytime when I'm not working. It's definitely something to do other than sitting around the house in my boring city. Plus I need to get it out of my system before med school.

Based on the current topic, I never really got into drinking either. I'm more of a social drinker sometimes. Plus, I don't like my alcohol to taste like alcohol. I don't like beer and I prefer fruity beverages and red wines.

Also I only watched anime because of my sister and friends so I can't tell you too much about it.

I've never gone to a casino before!! Probably because I don't really live near any at all, did you go by yourself or with friends? Is it weird if you go by yourself cause I doubt any of my friends would be interested. Like I said.. I want another group of friends haha

i used to watch the old school anime--sailor moon, tenchi muyo, DbZ, big O!, theres a few others i cant remember--but i think anime is the only cartoons that havent turned to crap like american toons smh. im like what is this rubbish they watch now-a-days (i feel hella old talking about some now-a-days lol)

I finally peeped this show too and to be fair Dr. Jackie and Simone weren't bad but the rest of those riff rafts were too much. just because you marry into money doesnt mean you have class :thumbdown:

Yesterday I went with my mom because she likes to go (she won $$) but I go with my friends too! You can go by yourself if you want to but it will be lonely. Kind of like eating alone but it can be done. More power to you! It's more fun to go with other people; although, you will end up by yourself in the casino. You just find yourself rendezvousing with them every so often.

I liked dragon ball and my sister got me interested in inyuyasha, the alchemist, and naruto. Yeah but most cartoons are rubbish these days. I like family guy.
