Hello,
I would like to know if a particular incident that occurred previously is institutional action or not? If it is a plan on reporting it to AMCAS, but I am unsure because it is a somewhat weird situation.
I attend a football school and live in a house off campus. For one football weekend...
SDN,
I'm a freshman student and I recently received what I would consider an IA for a parking violation (received an in-house citation for parking in an administrative/staff space at around 8:00pm for approximately 15 minutes, can explain if necessary). Parking violations are, by university...
When would admissions officers review an applicant's IA's? between secondary and II? After the interview?
What is the protocol usually like when they do begin reviewing?

My questions:
Do I obtain this letter myself & upload it to the secondary (as one school has implied)?
Do I have the school submit the letter to AMCAS, then forward it to each school? (& will this letter count towards my letter limit at the school?)
Who actually has to write this...
I forgot to state that I had student conduct violations on my primary AMCAS application because I'm an idiot and thought "institutional actions" meant only probation/suspension/etc. Now I'm drafting a letter detailing this and sending it to each school I've applied to. Does this severely hurt my...
Hi,
I have a question that I couldn't find an answer to.
Background: my sophomore year, some friends and I went onto the roof of a friend's dorm. The "roof" was a balcony in the past, but now was accessible through windows. The ledge surrounding it was probably 3 feet high. So it was no more...
I just read on Temple's website that they require an official document detailing IA's sent to them from your school if you've had an institutional action. This is the first I've heard of this. Is this the case for most schools? Does anybody have a list of the schools that require it?
Thanks
I have 3 IA's on my record and I'm freaking out. I'm currently 25 and hoping to apply this cycle.
My junior year (2013) of college I received an alcohol violation. I was drinking in a friends room getting ready for a sorority formal. She had requested that I didn't disposed of the (beer)...
So for the 2017 cycle, I was interviewed at 2 schools (Wake Forest, and SUNY Upstate) and rejected everywhere except a WL at Wake Forest - still no reply. Basically, I talked to an adcom at SUNY Upstate who told me that I was rejected largely due to the fact that I neglected to disclose a...
So, I have a decently solid application but there is one big problem. I have 3 IAs. Things get interesting at #3.
1) for alcohol and fire safety in the dorms. That one is pretty annoying because the fire safety part was that my roommate had a hotplate that he refused to stop using. The alcohol...
Hello y'all,
After reading so many WAMC, definitely nervous to be posting, but I wanted some opinions on WAMC, as well as, a possible school list. Going to be a pretty long post, but its comprehensive of my app. The story is below with the IA.

sGPA: 3.59...
Hello all,
I am in the midst of preparing my application and came by the IA question and need some input if an incident I had with an old roommate qualifies as something I would need to report (please read before formulating your conclusions):
Briefly, I had a very negative experience with my...
Hi everyone,
Thanks for the input. This is really stupid but not sure what to do.
My senior year I lived alone in on-campus housing and had a little fish tank in my room (literally an old tide-pods container with one little fish). It was found during a random room check, my fish was...
So I was given an admonition for a class by a professor. For the AMCAS, would I have to report it as an Insitutional Action even though no one from the administration of the University acted?
Here is exactly how my University phrases an Admonition:
An admonition might be appropriate when the...

Hey I'm new to SDN but need some help on a recent issue.
So I'm a freshman at the moment and about a month ago I received an Institutional Action. It was an extremely small, stupid mistake. For my stats class, we are technically allowed to work together on homework assignments, so two of my...
So my freshman year I did some stupid things. I had an alcohol violation, as well as a theft violation from one of the dining halls on campus. Not making excuses, but a parent was going through bankruptcy and borrowed money from me. I didn't have enough myself and I was going hungry. Stupid...
Hi all!
I applied this past year, and so far have been unsuccessful. I believe I will have to reapply. However, in my 2016 application, I, unfortunately and stupidly, reported an IA that I now know is not on my record, and I don't think it actually counts as an institutional action. I really...
GPA: 3.8
I recently received an IA for cheating on an exam and there is a possibility that I will be hit with an academic probation (IA) or a written warning (does not go anywhere).
My grades and service and leadership have been stellar until the beginning of this semester, when I faced a...
During the fall 2015 of my junior year I wrote a paper for my honors college class (Oxford) explaining my undergraduate research and my plans to publish a thesis over it. The honors college requires every student to publish a thesis before they graduate, and Oxford is a class to help students...

Hey everyone,
I'd appreciate a bit of feedback on what schools I should apply to, or if I should apply at all next cycle. A little background-- I am a a rising junior, and have an IA which resulted in a withdraw on my transcript (which counts as an F would in a GPA). It was for giving someone...
Hi all,
I've seen many threads about people with freshman year alcohol violations (not ticket, just institutional action). It looks like I may be given an alcohol violation (alcohol probation for 1 semester) and I am going into my senior year.
I wasn't found drinking or anything, but we had...
Hi all,
This is my first post ever on this site. Just wanna say SDN has been an invaluable source of information, so thanks in advance!
So my description for my IA is as follows:
Violation of Residential Guest Behavior 10/2012 - During the first semester of freshman year, my friend came to...
Many years ago, I received an IA at a community college. It is not on my transcript, but there is a file. I have since moved onto university and did very well for myself. Because this occurred in CC, do I still have to report the incident on the AMCAs? Or are they only concerned with IAs in...
Forgive me, this is a little lengthy.
I began undergrad in 2006 and am finally graduating in June. It took me a long time to finish undergrad because I was assaulted a couple times in my freshman year, and it mentally and physically wrecked me. Instead of doing the right thing and temporarily...
I apologize in advance for the length, but the text is important to supplement my questions below. For those reading, thank you for your time.
I am planning on reapplying this coming cycle as an MD/PhD (I applied for 2015 entry as MD). Reason for my rejections I found out through my interview...

Hi! I am fairly new to sdn, and would like some advice on my issue here. I've looked at a lot institutional action threads but couldn't find one exactly like mine.
I wanted to talk about how and if I should disclose my "institutional action" and how badly you think this would affect my chances...
