I am apart of a D21 class which was given the option of taking the traditional boards (NBDE 1 & 2) or the INBDE. However, I noticed there hasn't been much conversation between the two exams and discussion over the pros/cons of taking one over the other.

Passed ABFM Boards. Pretty hectic working environment and hence had 1.5 month prep - 2 hours per day. Weekends would be around 6-8 hours of study time.
- ABFM questions (APP) on itunes. Pretty good. Used it while on the move.
- ITE questions ... last 3 years
- Board Vitals ... not that great...
Hi everyone,
I'm 2 months from being done with first year and I feel like I've learned so much but at the same time nothing at all. Just holding First Aid in my hand gives me anxiety knowing that I'm going to have to memorize EVERYTHING (exaggeration) in this book. It seems impossible to know...
I bought these in 2013, 21st edition. In great shape, no missing pages. Definitely high yield information, I should probably keep them, but trying to clear out my office. $150 shipped.
Different societies may have different guidelines regarding different diseases, do you have a sense (good rule of thumb) on how to approach studying the guidelines for the sake of GI boards?
One example is alcoholic liver disease AASLD vs. ACG, and so on.
As the merry season of board preparation approaches, let's share our study notes and what we are doing to prepare for the boards.
I am currently doing the DDSEP 8 questions and reading brennan spiegel's books.
How are you preparing for the boards?
My best learning experiences have been in study groups. It's been a while but I would like to set up a study group for the plastic surgery boards starting now for the written exam and extending through the oral exam. We'd use Skype +/- phone.
If anyone has experience with the exam and...

Hi,
I graduated vet school and passed the NAVLE in 2007, and became licensed in Illinois. It took me a few tries though. That was due to going to a foreign vet school which is AVMA accredited, but I was not adjusted to multiple choice questions and had to learn that skill. Due to a serious...
What do palliative care fellows use to study for boards?
On amazon I see some sample test kindle books for sale, but not many books for study. Is there something that fellows commonly use to study for boards, or review courses?
As a fellow Canadian Citizen who is born and raised in Canada. The system to comeback into a residency is extremely difficult. The next little bit will outline the grotesque nature of the system and how convoluted and unfair it is towards IMGs despite their BS guidelines. Get some popcorn...
3rd year DO student considering IM, FM, or peds; COMLEX I 601, USMLE I 217
Honestly I have no idea if I should take USMLE II or not. My COMLEX "translates" to a much better USMLE score than what I got, so I figure if ACGME programs have taken DOs then I should only submit my COMLEX. If I submit...
Hi SDN!
First let me apologize for posting a thread of a topic with so many posts. But I need some advice.
About to start the winter term of my D1 year. I am okay with doing general dentistry going forward, but I am definitely interested in pediatrics.
Currently attending a non ivy P/F...
Hi! MD graduate here, planning to match for Uro. I was wondering how do residents study during the uro residency? What strategies do the use to cope with the demanding hours in work and studying?
Also, if possible, what resources (textbooks, qbanks, review questions, uptodate, other apps...
Anyone take this exam October 4 (or really any time within last few months)?
Feeling like I can't stop replaying all of the questions I did not know in my head. Lots of microbiology I haven't reviewed in forever. So much OMM (not terrible though). The usual crappy radiology pictures that...
Hey guys I wanna know what is the equivalent process to the USMLE in Canada? if any of you know. Also what is the process to be licensed in Ontario and open your private practice?
Many many thanks, appreciate it!
Greetings,
How should I be structuring my board prep if I am P/F in class? I have access to B&B, Pathoma, Kaplan Q, USMLE-rx, and Sketchy. I am an M2 and we just started organ systems. I covered all the relevant material from the above resources for our first block and I feel that I will be very...
Just noticed the pass rate for this year's QE was 90%! Congrats to everyone who rocked it! I am glad to see this. Do you think this is more a change in mindset with the ABS? Curious what others on this forum think...
General Surgery Exam Pass Rates | American Board of Surgery
Which fractures need ortho consult in the ED? Which ones can be discharged to see ortho later (referral)?
I'm doing a "deep-dive" of this topic, since I feel that my residency program didn't really prepare us well for ortho fx topics. I thought this was pretty straightforward to learn, as I...
Hi all,
Haven't posted since my premed days but I recently have gotten my board scores back 240 step 1 and 621 comlex. I honestly don't know what a good comlex score is though. If anyone can provide some guidance on that please feel free to respond!
As for my main reason for posting, I am NY...
I just recently took both USMLE Step 1 and COMLEX Level 1 (Scores at bottom of post). I remember having a difficult time finding relevant SDN threads for people taking both exams, in regards to test prep/schedule/practice test scores and the correlating final scores on exam. I'm just posting...
Hey guys! I'm starting at PCO next month and I have a couple questions about the boards. Do you have to take them in the state in which you graduate? Also does anyone on the east coast know if New York accepts New Jersey licenses? Vice versa? I heard that NJ will accept Pennsylvania licenses but...
I am about to graduate in a month with my Masters in Occupational Therapy. The next step is to take my boards. However, I got into some trouble and got a DUI over the weekend. Does anyone have any advice on what to do or what will happen? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone!
I attend a school in the midwest and at this time we are not allowed to take the NPTE on the April test date as we don't graduate until May.
I know myself and some of my classmates are motivated to find a job/travel position right after graduation and it would really be a setback...
Hey everyone! I'm a current MS1 who has been using Firecracker throughout my first year to help me study and have really enjoyed it. Here's my referral link: http://mbsy.co/fTzzN
If you have any questions about how to use it, please let me know! It can be a bit confusing/overwhelming to figure...
I've exhausted TrueLearn for the Basic Exam (remember most of the questions from when I took the ITE) so I was wondering if anyone else was using the PASS Machine Qbank. It seems more "basic" than TrueLearn at times but everyone says TrueLearn is the best (at least at my program).
Am I wasting...
Hi all - I'm almost done with my first year at Pitt and have been using Firecracker throughout the year - it's really been a great resource for me, so I wanted to share my referral link! http://mbsy.co/fTzzN - let me know if you have any specific questions on how I used it!

Alright friends, let's do this.
I'm planning on sitting sometime in late June (COMLEX only). FA 2017 is on the way, starting UWorld in January and Combank around April.
Feel free to share and help keep each other accountable until we slay the beast.
So I did not pass my peds boards (first time). BY 2 POINTS!
My question is:
Has anyone paid for the re-score ($250) and passed?
Does this ever happen?
I can accept the fact that I did not pass... but if I did not have to take the test again that would be awesome!
Thanks!
PS.
If anyone else...
First time on this site. I'm a third year in my clinical rotations. From a school in the northeast interested in residency programs anywhere but west coast. I didn't do great on COMLEX 1 with 485. I'm sad about this score since my practice tests were in the 500-600 range. I don't know what...
So this is my second time taking the NPTE. I received a 562 on the October exam. Am I too hopeful to think I will pass in January or do you think thats a close enough score to be able to get it the next time? Studying is terrible but I have changed my techniques. I'm using O'Sullivans...
Need input on the endodontic portion of the NERB/CDCA- Typodont teeth- Acadental
I just took it and failed the posterior Endo.
It surprises me how I could not pass such an easy exam ,when I have done several RCT's during dental school and residency.
My question is:
