Hey everyone, MS-3 Navy HPSP here. Just received my confirmation letter for a MICU clerkship at Walter Reed this summer. I utilized the search function on SDN but all of the posts on this subject were pre-2009. Thought maybe anyone had any updates.

Was wondering if anyone here has any experience rotating in the IM or MICU department at WRNMMC (what the hours were like, what procedures you were able to do as a 4th year med student, or any advice at all)?

I was also wondering how competitive the IM residency is there and if it was a good educational experience (academic civilian program-like quality)? I'm hoping to match into the IM residency there and just wanted to get an idea if it's a malignant program or not? If I don't get it or the program received poor reviews, I'd probably just do the typical 4-year GMO time and get out.

Thanks for all the help!
