Hi,

Can anyone comment on whether it is possible to work
as a non-board certified internist for those who
finish IM residency in US. What kind of opportunities
are there? And how difficult is the IM board exam?
Thanks a lot. Appreciate any feedback.

Yes, you may work as an internist without passing the boards. Some hospitals will even hire you to work even if you are not even board eligible. Most of these opportunities are in underserved communities (cities, rural settings). The IM board isn't too difficult. The national pass rate is ~80% for all residency programs, I think that if you study throughout residency, you will be fine.
