Since this board has been pretty slow lately, thought I'd try to get things going again. Where are people thinking about ranking #1? I'm ranking Boston Combined first since I matched there for peds neuro and would like to do all my training at the same place. Good luck to all with the upcoming match!

michigan

did a lot of people recieve a note from northwestern telling them how impressed the program was with their application?

GOOD LUCK!

as for michigan, i just really didn't enjoy my day. none of the residents talked to any of the applicants that day...we had a lunch and the applicants just talked to each other. granted, this was early in the interview season, so maybe it got better. i also just got a weird vibe from the faculty that interviewed me. nothing particularly about the program, just the feeling that i got there.

Out of curiosity, why have some of you ranked Brown and/or Yale lower (not top 3)?

I haven't finished my ROL yet, but I don't think Brown will be in my top 5. I did really like the hospital & the people (both residents and faculty). My problem was a case of massive gastro that I got on the NJ Turnpike about 8hrs after eating the noon conference lunch. It left a bad taste in my mouth, so to speak.

Hi Earmuffs,

Its too bad that an awful experience like that would determine how you feel about a program. But I must confess that I am guilty of the same. Now we know how a program may feel about an applicant based on the events that may take place before or after the interview. The interviewer may have had a very good day or bad day before or after interviewing the applicant...and these sentiments can dictate how they feel about the applicant, either too prematurely or wrongly. On the other hand, if its all good...then the applicant has it all good too.

Good luck in your future endeavours. For the rest, I hope it wasnt a bad case of enteritis. :)

The idea that interviewers may have a number of subjective experiences in their interiviewing is one reason for having multiple interviewers (hopefully). The other thing that seems to separate interviewer and interviewee is that the hospitals also have a number of objective things on which to judge you - scores, recommendations, honors etc. We're not that fortunate - USnews rankings? really? ..yet now that both sides have submitted, it doesn't matter. hey, does anyone know if it's only a historical thing that match is 3wks after ranking? like in the old days they had to mail it in so that's why it takes so long?
I mean, how long does it take for a computer to match us?

UCSF - UCLA [Community health and advocacy track] 1-2 close call
3. UCLA categ
4. Hopkins
5. Brown
6. UofChicago
7. Northwestern

would be a happy camper at any of top 7.

Naturally, I just found this today. It's funny how even though a bunch of us interviewed at the same places, everyone's got their own order. Kind of reassuring.

1) Hopkins
2) CHOP
3) Boston Combined
4) Wash U
5) MUSC (home base)
6) Denver Childrens'
7) Childrens' National

Best of luck to everyone, today and (dum dum dummmm) Thursday.

It's a historical thing. They run the match several times for validation, and that used to take a while. It sort of sucks that our answers have been sitting in envelopes for two weeks. :luck:

I'm doing pediatric neurology and have already early-matched years 3-5 in Seattle. Now that I've gotten the happy e-mail from NRMP, I can go ahead and post my rather brief ROL for years 1-2:

1. Seattle
2. Utah
3. St. Louis
4. Cinci

Good luck everyone!
