when to take step 2 cs

Hey All,

I scored well on step 1, have step 2 ck scheduled for end of december...am looking to applying to top programs so don't want any red-flags on my application...

question is....when should I take step 2 CS? if I fail, but retake and pass do programs see that I took it twice? Will that in itself be a red flag that I took it twice because I failed the first time?

My opinion is if you did well on step 1 then take the step 2s so your score will be released after eras is in so if you do fail you have some buffer and isn't on your application

Do you know the timeline for Step 2 CS scores to come back out? is it 1-2 months after the test date?
