When do you get the signing bonus?

Hey guys, if the military gives you the signing bonus, when exactly do you get it, after you were commissioned? Do you get it lump sum? Pre or after tax? Thanks a lot in advance!

After I swore in with the Navy, the bonus showed up in my bank account about a month later. It came in three payments over about a week's time. It also had about 25% withheld for taxes. Hope that helps.
