So I'm trying to be cheap and not pay for the current (4th) edition of Step Up to medicine. This edition came out in 2012 versus 2015 for the current version. There's also a version coming out in April 2019 after I finish my medicine rotation.

Did anyone recently use the 3rd edition to prepare for the medicine shelf? Would you recommend or should I just go ahead and cough up the extra $30?

Enough guidelines have changed it's probably a good idea to get the 4th edition from 2015. Chances are good you could buy a used one off a fourth year or a third year who's done with the shelf and won't need it anymore.
