Such trolling so good rustles jimmies well
Goo
Google Watson by IBM. Your job can be done by a computer too
I don't. I love my hospitals' doctors. But I don't like arrogant dingus pricks who would will compromise anything, including patient safety, rather than their egos. And I really have no patience for people who are med students or even worse, pre-meds who troll around to stir up **** acting like they have the slightest idea WTF they are talking about.God I swear everybody on this forum hates physicians. Nurses, Phamacist, optometrist, everybody.

Most of these people started out as premeds, then realized they didn't have the aptitude or work ethic to become physicians, so they go into other health fields so they can still be called a doctor (or, in the case of NPs, ask patients to call them "doctor" without having the degree).
@naseuy - my attitude isn't nonchalant, it's a fact of life, even if one's error rate is one in a million, given that I'm writing/continuing ~100 scripts on an average day, just statistically speaking I'll make an error at some point in my career. I accept the consequences that come with that because practicing medicine is the highest privilege known to man, and if a patient gets hurt by that they have the right to take me to court. We make errors and we pay for them. You know why you almost never hear of a pharmacist getting sued? Because nobody has that kind of high expectation for you.

i'm not sure where this MD happy go lucky lifestyle bs is coming from, but you guys are about to get rammed by ins companies...Okay, okay, pharmacists are the new health care rock stars. Soon you guys will be doing organ transplants. You guys are brilliant!!! Simply superstars! I will go to a grocery store tomorrow and thank a pharmacist for their great contribution to science and medicine. Better?
Wow man, you're a dick! I realize it's best not to feed the troll, but man you are a dick! Let me quote why, "because practicing medicine is the highest privilege known to man" Good luck man, I would love to be a fly on the wall the day your attending rips you a new dingus for being such a prick. I would also love to be there the day you are crying in the corner, because you arrogance kills someone.
Perhaps society will be lucky and when you need healthcare some other arrogant prick physician kills you with a medication error. Hell, if it didn't kill you, you would probably sue the pharmacist for not catching the mistake.
I love my docs. But they love me. If we had a negative relationship I wouldn't sing their praises.
For the record THIS pharmacist did get into medical schoolI love it when I hear a pharmacist say that they could have gotten into medical school if they wanted to. Its like saying I could have played in the NFL but it's much more rewarding to throw the ball around with my neighbors.
Huh?
And this premed hasnt even taken their MCAT yet...And then you woke up and found yourself wondering through the OTC isles of Walgreens wearing your little white coat. Sorry couldn't resist. LOL
For the record THIS pharmacist did get into medical school
Dude don't even talk, you haven't even taken your MCAT yet. Yes I did get into medical school. Go read my past posts if you don't believe me. Or should I take a picture of my acceptance letter for you?Right! LOL And you chose to take pills from a big bottle and put them in smaller ones.
Oh, was this a chiropractic school? LOL

yea I know but I just cant help it!!! silly premeds trolling in the pharmacy forum, sigh. Thanks

Pharmacists aren't sued as much because they make less mistakes than doctors. You guys are experts on diagnostics and we are experts on the drugs, and we collaborate to provide the best care. I don't get what your problem is? I read through all your posts and I really don't understand why you have an issue.
Someone somewhere had bashed on retail, ummm retail is where patients get their meds. Rxs written by multiple doctors, pts aren't telling their doctors they see other doctors so there are DDI potentials. Someone had walked in with 2 statin Rxs from 2 different doctors. Did you know 70% of the population will try something OTC before they visit a doctor? Who do you think they go to when they need a recommendation for OTC items? I do a lot of OTC counseling which I find rewarding, a lot of uninsured patients rely on OTC meds too. I've caught so many potential errors it's ridiculous, parents trying to buy baby aspirin for kids, lady on lisinopril stocking up on dextromethorphan, people with salicylate allergies buying Bengay unaware salicylate is an ingredient, etc etc all of this saves people trips to ER/doctor. The only thing that makes sense to me is that you don't see what pharmacists do or are aware of all this which is why you don't think we're valuable. If we're so replaceable by a computer, then why hasn't it happened yet? Who knows what life will be like 300 years from now, but as of today, society needs pharmacists. With that said, my undergrad ochem professor always joked that in the near future, saliva swabbing/on-hand chemical assays in kiosks will be diagnosing patients, not doctors It's not impossible to believe.
Can you guys please stop equating your "doctorate" degree to an MD or a science PhD? It is ridiculous!!!! An MD requires several years of clinical training post med school in order to practice; it takes 4-5 years post bachelors to finish a PhD followed by years of post doc. You can't say that standing around in the OTC isle is equivalent. Please! Plus don't get me started on this pharmacy "residency" crap. What residency? They make posters for a year or 2 and do presentations. A 9-5 position at a hospital does not compare to what a medical resident goes through. You went to pharmacy school to practice pharmacy because you most likely couldn't cut it for med school. So, stop equating yourselves to physicians and move on with life at Walgreens.
At the end of the day regardless of what you do, you are just a little cog in a big machine. The world will go on without you. You are just a worker. The business owners, the investors are the smart ones. They control you and your livelihood.
So why sacrifice your youth and take on an unreasonable debt for other people? You have your own life to live. Why would you want to cater to other people needs?
You like hanging out in pharmacy forums huh...you're like the longest serving med student down here, haha.
But you are right...one of the reasons I chose pharmacy was (aside from not wanting to touch people) the ability to work 40hrs/week making ~$140k/yr with minimal liability cost and not taking home a pager.
I could do a lot worse.

What???? So, in other words we should quit striving to become physicians and scientists and just become a pharmacist? LOL If we all do that, what will you guys move from bottle to bottle? Fairy dust?
Where do you work at? Fairy dust factory? LOL Keep dreaming buddy.

Here's the rate at UCSF: http://ucsfhr.ucsf.edu/index.php/st...text=pharmacist&tier1=1&tier2=2&Perb=&subFOC=
Look at how much a lonely staff pharmacist 1 makes. Jealous much?
Step Hourly Yearly

2.0 63.73 133,068
3.0 65.03 135,780
4.0 66.36 138,564
5.0 67.68 141,312
6.0 69.12 144,324
And you had to pick the #1 pharmacy school to make your point? LOL Plus making low six figures in San Fran will get you a hut and a card box with three wheels for a ride. LOL No one is going to pay someone who is graduating from Fairyland Pharmacy school six figures. Those days a over mister!
Now you're a drug scientist and a physician?????? ROFL Seriously ??:LOL: You need to get over yourself Medicingal!!
For god's sake you still didn't take the MCAT yet and now you're talking about discovering medications????!!!! Hahahaha
You're living in fairy tale and sooner or later reality will hit you like a stone wall!!!
For the time being keep entertaining us with your stupid dreams
Sounds a little bitter there. Here is UC Davis: http://www.hr.ucdavis.edu/Salarysca...armacist&form.submitted=1&titleForm=1&start=0
Pretty good huh? Those of us who got in early are still doing pretty well. Unfortunately for you and your generation, the good days are gone, not just for pharmacists but also for physicians. Say hi to Sallie Mae for me when she knocks on your door!
This comes from a pre-pharmacy student who probably thinks Calculus is a tough subject. LOL I have a BS in biomedical engineering with a GPA of 3.89 and I am already working on a Masters and will be applying to MD/PhD programs. Thank you very much! I have already taken MCAT Test 3 without studying to see what areas I need to focus on. I scored a 36. Eat that!!!
For those of you who are wondering why I am on a pharmacy forum. I am part of a committee at our university hospital assessing the rising cost of health care. Guess what? People on the committee, especially physicians were scratching their heads when they found out how much the hospital was paying pharmacists. They consider the department a financial drain. However, the administrators on the committee agree that the salary for pharmacists will come down significantly. Interestingly, the two pharmacists on the committee could not justify the high salaries and actually agreed that salaries could be adjusted. At this point they have eliminated all open "clinical" pharmacy positions. This is just a tip of whats to come.
Do you realize that these figures in CA means that you are just living an average life? LOL Now, if you were making that kind of salary in KS, then that would be pretty good. But for selling your sole to a retail giant. Counting pills for the rest of your life? Reading package inserts to customers and telling them about store specials? No thank you!
MD/PhD programs are fully funded with a reasonable stipend.
Now, you go say hi to Sally for me.
Hahahaha Oh WOW you must be a genius!!!! Plus are you implying that what you're doing NOW in this forum and your stupid arguments are all considered an "assessment" ???? LOL
They must be really proud to have such a genius in your hospital. Haha
Have you been to Davis? LOL
Are you going to tell me the COL in Compton is high because it is in California?
I love people like you. We need smart people who are willing to sacrifice their youth for us.
So, you can count stuff for the rest of your life? LOL That's pure genius!!!
Soon Compton and South Cental LA will be filled with pharmacists.
Good day gentleman.
I am not here to assess idiots like you. LOL That's what psychiatrists are for.
I get paid more than anybody working anywhere close to a hospital pharmacy...I have little interaction with other humans...I get 27 weeks off per year...I live in a major metro area.
Pretty sure I have the best job.
You are an idiot! Plus a 12th grader can be trained in less than 2 years to do a pharmacist's job. OTC counseling?? LMAO!
If you guys are not afraid of being replaced by a computer then why such a drive to practice medicine without a license? What's next? Pharmacist doing surgery at Walmart?
