Uncouplers in Mitochondria

I understand uncouplers decrease the activity of ATP synthase but, according to Kaplan, the body responds to this by increasing oxygen utilization via glycogen stores. How does glycogenolysis help the mitochondria maintain the proton motive force due to the uncouplers? Thanks.
