This is probably a very stupid question...but I can't find the answer online.

So I understand the set of signs that accompany UMN lesions and LMN lesions.

What I don't understand is paraplegia and quadriplegia....are these caused by UMN or LMN lesions or neither?

What is the actual damage here to cause total paralysis of limbs? Like, where in the spinal cord/brain is the damage occurring? And what is the damage?

Thank you

Can be either, but most likely UMN I would imagine. Could occur from a spinal cord transaction anywhere above the cervical levels controlling arms (above C4 ish) or massive issue of the LMN (some gnarly polio case or something idk) (these are for paraplegias)
