Can anyone give a say on this? There is a big name professor in our hospital who asked my advice to translate a 400 pages book from German to English, I will be doing this on a volunteer basis.
Should I ask him to post my name as a co-author or an editor, or this is considered too much to ask

I have never participated in Books writing before, I literally have zero experience, I need some advice before approaching my professor for such thing, many thanks

what do you think you'd get out of it, if not an authorship?

to me, there already seems to be fairly little value in getting your name on a translated edition of a book. residencies aren't going to think "great s/he translates books from german to english, this is someone i MUST HAVE in my next class of residents!" not getting your name on the book has even less value.

there's my two cents
