Hi,

I'm a first year med student in Turkey and I want to transfer to an European Med School. Any advises?

thanks.

Well it's not so easy to transfer to European schools mainly because the curriculum is quite different. In my university (First Faculty of Medicine, Prague, CR), we had the following subjects in the first year:

1) Anatomy 1,2
2) Anatomical Dissections 1,2
3) Histology 1
4) Histology and Embryology 2
5) Biophysics
6) Cell Biology
7) Czech 1,2
8) Physical Education 1,2
9) Medical Latin terminology 1,2
10) First Aid
11) Introduction to Medical Studies
12) Biology and Genetics 1

They do actually allow transfer students sometimes, but you have to take the courses that were not in your curriculum. If you're looking for Western European Universities, you will need to be fluent in the language. Central European Universities have English programs which are the most expensive in Europe (with the exception of UK and Malta); Eastern European universities aren't as expensive but their curricula is still extensive.

Here's a list of the 2nd year subjects in case you plan to transfer (And btw we do have fairly a lot of transfer students at our uni.):

Physiology 1,2
Biology and Genetics 2
Biochemistry 1,2
Microbiology 1
Czech 1,2
Patient Care: Summer clerkship
Physical Education 1,2
2 Eligible subjects
