Hi, I was wondering if there is any updates for about the 2008 application progress? I'm new to this forum and wanted to know if we are allow to ask whether or not Touro do blind interviews? (meaning the interviewers did not have access to your application information). Thanks in advance. =).

Well, first there is a group interview. The person here knows your application information.

The personal interviews come next. There are 4 different rooms with 2 interviewers in each room, these people don't know anything about you, I guess that means its blind.

Then a short writing session after that.

My stats:
BS in Business Administration-3.57 gpa
Prerequisites gpa-3.45
Volunteer experience
No pharmacy experience

My degree was from a foreign country, which of course was evaluated by WES. I also had more volunteer work with a health agency back in Africa. Good luck to everyone applying for next year. And for those who got in, congratulations pioneers! I guess I'll see you guys at orientation, sept 22nd.

Congratulations to all those who got accepted into Touro's inaugural class!

I was accepted as well and am looking for roommates. It would be nicer to have fellow classmates for more reasons beyond safety. I see several nice 3 & 4 bedroom apartments w/no broker fees on CL and they appear to be legit according to the pics. If anyone would like to discuss the possibilities, please msg me on AIM. Thanks! :)

Maybe you still have a chance. The acceptance fee is pretty hefty!!! Are you on the alternate list? What were your stats?!

Keep your head up. I got rejected to all 8 schools for 2008 and after another big price tag on flying up to New York, it was worth it in the end. Your day will come soon :)

Nope....not on the alternate list......just gonna give up on pharmacy and going for masters biomedical eng which i got accepted to.....

I wouldn't quit on it.

But yeah, I kinda have a qualm with that $1500 deposit. Only way I can come up with that in 3 days is by either:

A - Robbing a bank.
B - Selling illegal drugs.
C - Taking out a loan from a loan shark.
D - Ask my parents.
 
E - Play Texas hold em at a Casino
F - All of the above (would work too)

If you look at the schools' stats on PharmCAS, almost every school has a higher percentage of accepted females.

Yeah, but now to figure out the logistics of getting there every morning at 8AM from Long Island, whether or not to get an apartment in the city, whether or not the buy a motorcycle.

Some people have told me it would be an epic douchebaggery move for me to reject this.

Hey guys! I received my acceptance email on friday...i live in ny so Im so happy i dont have to move! yay! im so excited!!! Was anyone here from the 1:00pm interview on Thursday August 28? Just wondering....

ANyway...did anyone who got accepted receive the other emails they said we should receive? (the ones regarding where to send payment and the other acceptance stuff...like orientation and the white coat cereamony dates)

I thought i would have received it today but i didnt.
 
Congrats to Sparda29, I know that it has been a bumpy ride in your application experience, but I'm happy for you.
 
I replied to the message already and told them that I accept the offer. But I didnt get an email since then. Did anyone else get an email/??
 
I think the confirmation e-mail and the USPS package are sent out both on September 10th.

PS: I'm taking the offer.

I knew this would be a good weekend once the Mets stunned the Phillies by winning the nightcap of the doubleheader on Sunday. Brett Favre looked terrific in his Jets debut. And best of all...Tom Brady QB (NE Patriots) tore his ACL and is out for the season. WOOT!!!!!

Yeah we havent received an email yet. I know I personally would like some financial aid info! We need to send $1500 by friday plus most of us are going to need to pay first and last months rent. We need our money! It takes a few weeks before you get your check too.... I think I won't eat for a few weeks.
 
i hope we get this email soon cuz i have no idea how to send the $1500 deposit. I hope im not the only one...

Are you guys planning on mailing out the check this week or are we waiting to hear from them first? Well...im kinda guessing we should definitely hear form them before friday but im just wondering...

Congratulations - so happy for you!!! Glad to see your persistence and determination brought you out of limbo. I'm hoping I'll be as fortunate same time next year.

Don't even consider the motorcycle (if you're being serious) - you do want to live to see your pharmD degree, don't you?
Either finding a roommate, or taking the LIRR are much better solutions. Leave the car home if you want to avoid the aggravation (traffic/parking problems/parking violations.)

Yup yup, I took one full year of the "science" or "pre-health" physics and have 2 quarter worth of credits for engineering physics in Mechanics and Electricity. I'm not sure what was needed.

As for the motorcycle, the city doesn't seem that bad. And you won't die if you get a ride it (from the NYC I've seen from my interview its all traffic congestion). My only concern with it is (if NY is anything like California) is that the thief rate is pretty high and I hated riding in the rain. And commuting to school wasn't so fun either since it cut down your study time.

Btw, I be in NY on the 14th if anyone wanna meets to up.
Hopefully I see everyone on the 22nd.

Random question, is there any good crawfish places in NY?
