Been accepted into Touro California and Campbell DO School (CUSOM). I'm having a tough time deciding, but need to decide ASAP, please help. Long term, my goal is to be in California (I'm from the Bay Area), and I want to try for a competitive specialty. Expense wise, they would both be the same for me. Please let me know what you would choose and why!
Touro-CA Pros:
- Location: Bay Area, where I'm from and where I want to be long term.
- Match Rate is high into CA residencies for primary care, but people in specialties seem to be going outside of CA.
- Better ranking
Touro-CA Cons:
- The area is poor, it's on an island with nothing there and nothing surrounding it.
Campbell Pros
- High Match Rate, matches to good specialty residencies on the East Coast, Partnerships with high good NC schools (Duke, UNC, etc.). High boards pass rate as well
- Location: The immediate location seems better since the school has more around it, as it's not on an old naval base.
- Chance to experience life elsewhere before settling in California.
