Too late to do research?

i am a third year vet student who discovered that i really love dermatology a few months ago. I am very interested in doing the internship-residency match for dermatology. However, i have learned recently that the best applications have had research opportunities. I don’t have summers anymore to focus on doing research as I’ll be going into clinics this spring. Does anyone have any advice on how to find research opportunities, or am I screwed and i cannot go into the match program for derm with no research?

Ask your faculty. They are going to be the best people to know what's available at your place.

Also realize you may have opportunities for research during an internship, especially if it's an academic program.
