It is interesting you bring these up, as I'd like to add to this:

The book that changed my life is called, "Drive" written by Dan Pink. He's an economist who discusses how there are 3 things required for someone to sustain "drive": autonomy, mastery, purpose. Part of mastery is the concept of "flow", popularized by Mihaly, where you need the right balance of skill and task difficulty to be in flow, which correlates to happiness, which he was actually able to somewhat quantify. Lastly, Pink argues why our current educational system is still stuck in the industrial age, and not adapting to teach the skills required of the workers today.
