Hi,
i have come across this case where
a patient and the parents have done HPLC/Electrophoresis test from the same lab. below are the reports.
father - Beta Thalassemia Minor
mother - Hemoglobin D Punjab Trait ( heterozygous state)
patient - Hemoglobin D Punjab with Beta Thalassemia minor
looking at the above report, an hematologist asked the father if the patient is adopted child or not. father replied in negative stating that the patient is their own child.
the patient comes to me to seek a second opinion on whether there is really any anamoly with the reports in terms of the patient being adopted and not real whch can be inferred from the above findings.
request expert suggestion on this.
