step 2 scheduling

I know that this topic has been discussed numerous times, but i had a question. I am taking step 2 early, however, i just received my scheduling permit yesterday. I wanted to take the exam on a saturday so as not to interfere with my rotations. Yet, nothing is available till october. the question is then do i wait till october to take the exam or should i take a day off during a rotation? if i wait till october, do i just let residency directors know that the results are pending?

Only a few programs require Step 2 for residency applications. If you are not applying to any programs which require it, there is no reason why you can't wait until Saturday to take it, unless you feel the need to do really well on Step 2 to overcome a less impressive Step 1 score.

I took a day off at the end of one of my rotations to take Step 2 and it wasn't a problem.
