starting an ophthalmology interest group

any one here involved in an optho interest group at their med school? I'm thinking about starting one at my school...just wondering if anyone has some advice on how to go about it, and what reasoning they used to get funding for the club.

Hi,

I started one at my school - was easy to start and your school will likely fund it as any other organization. It was most useful in combining with events/talks our ophtho department was sponsoring and some free clinic screening stuff, as there wasn't enough interest to have many more events with just the club (even with 15 applicants this year, there's only so much everyone wants to do). Really, there wasn't enough interest to get much going, but it was worth trying.
