Hi! Is there anyone here who has volunteered as an Ophthalmology Resident in a private clinic? I would like to know what duties you had, if you learned something and if it is worth going there in addition to the hours at the hospital.

Are you doing this to get into a fellowship? Or for fun or to determine if a certain specialty is for you? How do you even have time to do so?

In the US an ophthalmology resident is someone who has completed medical school and is spending 4 years to train to be a board certified ophthalmologist. Most programs are both hospital based and clinic based in all areas of subspecialties and there is not a need to get any other experience. It might not be this way in other countries.
