hey there--

just finished up with EMT-b, going in to take the national registry soon, then i have 10 or 11 months of EMT-b work before med school. just wondering if anyone out there has any suggestions/advice/gospel about where/when/how to get a job as a basic in southeast michigan. i know that huron valley in ann arbor and plymouth is big one out here, but i'm from the west bloomfield/farmington hills area and was hoping to stay around here. any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

All you will be doing is transporting old people from hospital to nursing homes and vice versa. Other than that, you will be taking dialysis pts to and from the NH. Being a basic sucks and the pay is horrible. Unless you work for Detroit or a fire dept. the job blows.

BTW HVA is better, but is tough to get into without any experience. If I could do it again, I would get a job at the hospital prior to med school.....
