Q on couples matching

Hope all are enjoying their summer! Quick q on couples match...would appreciate a reply!

I will be applying through the San Fran match and my sig other will be applying through NRMP. We can't couples match with our specialties but would we be able to just couples match for our preliminary year?

absolutely. after you match for your SF Match, you separtely have to match through NRMP for the prelim year, so you can definitely couples match for that. Also, there is some guy at the SF Match who 'coordinates' with the NRMP match for couples. Call them up for more details.

Sorry to repeat the same message, but....

Contact the director of SFMatch (Perry?). He may be able to
facilitate your match with your significant other's NMRP match -
although you may have to sacrifice your top choices.

I ran across a couple of people who did this last year (optho).
One couple ended up in neighboring cities (30-40 minutes) for
optho and derm. Good luck.
