Hello all,

I'm a P-I (paramedic I) student and I'm wondering how important it is to have a pediatric stethoscope for auscultation of peds pts. Is there a significant difference when using the smaller chest piece vice the adult size? I currently use a Littmann Master Classic II and I don't mind spending the $$ to get a ped scope if it will make a difference but if not, I'd rather save my money for something else I might need.

Thanks,

I'd save my money if I were you. I know plenty of pediatricians who use adult stethoscopes and they're obviously fine with it. I have a Master Cardio III which has a Peds side to it, and I mainly use it on infants b/c of their size. But I can hear just fine with the adult side also.
