Hi guys,
I am kinda new to this forum, but have a quick question. I apologize if it is far to narrow and if anyone has an info, I would appreciate it! What is the length of time and pay like for a Pediatric Interventional Cardiologist. I have looked into it and the field seems like it will continue to grow with the advent of the new technology and all. Just curious what length of time to expect and what kinda pay one would receive to pay off some loans! Thanks!!!

Summary...

7 years total...3 peds, 3 peds cards, 1 iv peds cards

pay is much much less than their adult counterparts...they are not terribly busy people (not many babies need caths) and they are all at academic centers

technology is growing but many defects will never be able to be repaired with interventional (eg, hypoplastic left heart, epstein's anomaly, transposition. interrupted aortic arch, total anomolous veins, etc.)

still a rewarding field, incredibly more interesting than coronary artery disease and metabolic syndrome (although at this country's rate, peds cardiologists may soon be treating teens with these diseaes), and one i hope to practice in a few years
