from what i know so far, baylor offers interviews either dec 3/4 or dec 4/5.

cincinnati offers them either Nov. 16/17 or Dec. 7/8.

ohio state offers them either Nov 9/10 or Dec 7/8 (haven't been offered one here, but they sent out a letter in a "save the date" kind of manner.

when were you notified of these, and by what manner (email, phone, letter)? Did you get these interviews or is this info obtained from friends, etc?

I heard from Baylor by Phone.

I applied to a few pedo programs, and received a letter from a couple of the programs stating that they received my application (UT-Houston, Ohio State), but not from Baylor nor UT-San Antonio. Has anyone received a letter from these two schools?

When do schools start scheduling interviews in general? After the application deadlines?

Baylor and San Antonio do not send any letters, so they will call you only for an interview. Some schools like Baylor interview even befor the deadline, other only after. I know Cinncy already send invitations but they have early deadline.

denver's dates are nov 16/17 or dec 7/8. just got an email today giving dates but not an interview application. says they will notify applicants by mid october.

I got a letter in the mail from Buffalo, unlike Baylor and Cinci who offer two dates, these guys offer 10 dates (five Fridays and five Sat. with a dinner the night before), and the range is from September 26 thru November 15.

yeah, they seem to all be squeezing in on the same weekends. i guess that's one way to save on interviews, but it's difficult to decide which one to pick over another without having been to the program.

Just received a rejection letter from Cinci very disappointing. No interviews yet, only save a day letters. Does anyone know if they send a save a day letters to all applicants? How many of us are applying this year and what are your stats?:(

Has anyone else applied to Cincinnati, but not recieved an interview invite nor a rejection letter???
 
I haven't applied to Cincinnati, but for some of the other programs I applied to (UT-San Antonio, Baylor), the same has happened to me: no letter of receipt of my application, no interview notification, and no rejection letter either..... Can anyone who's been through this before let us know if this is standard? If the school doesn't want to interview me, will I ultimately receive a rejection letter?

I applied last year to seven programs. (BTW...I achieved the golden sombrero [0/7])

About half were kind enough to provide me the cordial "Thanks, but no thanks" letter. The other half... not so much as a whisper from them.

It seems like every program would take the time to put your name at the top of a form letter, as opposed to simply ignoring you altogether. Especially since most of us bend over backwards to apply to these programs during the application process.

You could place a phone call or send a quick email to check on the status of your app(s). I personally would not think twice about doing so, just not sure how some programs might view your timing. I hope this helps to alleviate some of your concerns.

It may still be early in the game. But I know how you feel cuz I'm in the same boat with those programs as well as other programs too. I talked to a classmate of mine who got accepted into pedo last year and she told me that several schools offered her interviews less than 1 week before their interviews dates. She ended up buying some really expensive airplane tickets in order to make it to those interviews. A few programs such as Ohio state have told me that if I don't hear from them by early October then to assume that I won't be offered and interview. Other programs like Colorado have told me that they won't start offering interviews until the middle of October. Your guess as to what is considered "early" or "middle" is probably as good as mine. Who knows! But I still think it's early in the game or at least that's what I keep telling myself. So for all you applicants waiting on pins and needles, hang in there cuz you're not alone. I'll be there waiting side by side with all of you.

I applied to cinci and got an interview a few weeks after some people had theirs. I have gotten interviews to several on the list already and I havn't heard from a few that I applied to that are on the lis but I am not counting them out yet, I think they send out interview invites in bunches, at least untill all their interview spots are filled. I wouldn't start worrying yet because alot of programs havn't even started sending out interview invites, I think the time to worry is after we get into November a week or so.

Hi Wanderer Ed:

I was wondering what you did different this year to get so many interviews. I have been out of dental school for one year and am applying to pedo and like everyone else really have not heard anything from the schools I applied to. However, I did not have the best GPA in dental school so I wanted to know what I could do to boost my application in case I have to apply next year as well.
Thanks for any help you can give me.
 
I decided to do a GPR at a Children's Hospital that has a solid reputation for dental treatment of medically compromised and special needs patients. Pedo emphasis with a fair amount of O.R. time and oral conscious sedation training as well.

That is the only thing that I have added to my CV since the last application cycle. PM if you would like additional information on the specific program I am involved with.

I have applied to Cinci but have not received an interview or rejection letter. The only thing I got was an email a few weeks ago saying that they were reviewing my application. So, I am also anxiously awaiting a response!

I got 3 or 4 rejection letters in March.... AFTER I had already matched. So yes, you may ULTIMATELY receive a rejection letter, but a lot of programs don't even send those. Keep in mind, most programs and most program directors are extremely busy with everyday things. Applications just add to that. Sending a courtesy "don't call us, we'll call you" card is the least on their minds. You can call programs to make sure your stuff is in if you want, but applying is a waiting game. If you don't hear from them by January 29th, then you can safely assume they don't want to interview you. Just my opinion.

totally agree with this post.....for those whom havent gotten interviews yet, dont fret.....i got 6 last year and all came late october and early november.....actually the program I actually ranked as #1 didnt tell me about my interview until a week before the interview in mid-November.....

someone described the process perfectly.......waiting game
