Exactly - on the real PCAT there will be 8 experimental items in each multiple-choice section, meaning only 40 will count towards your actual score. So whether you answer those 8 experimental questions correctly or incorrectly, it won't matter - HOWEVER, you'll have no idea which questions they are or where they will randomly be placed in each section, so you'll want to try your best on every question.
