Pay taxes if parent lives in California?!?!

I'm currently in my second year of PT school in Wisconsin. My dad lives in California, and I plan on doing travel PT there when I graduate.

Would you still have to pay housing taxes if you have a parent in the state?

Do travel PTs pay less taxes than regular PTs in California?
