Did anyone else just receive an e-mail from UPS about setting up a myPugetSound account?

Yes! Freaked out the entire time I set it up, only to realize there was no actual update.

Man... all these rejections are starting to wear on me, haha.

Wow, they are cranking those rejections out!! Got mine as well from UPS. Tough day in the PNW :(

This cycle must be extremely competitive here in the PNW. I'm honestly only waiting on UW, but it's not looking so good at this point. I'm preparing for the worst and planning on how I can improve my app for next cycle.

Now I gotta deal with a rejection AND a superbowl loss!

So none of you got on an alternate list for UPS? Do they not have a waitlist system?

Got an acceptance from UPS!!!! Finally, after a rejection from Samuel Merritt, Waitlisted interview for Pacific U, and no Interview for UNLV.

Based on their admissions website and last year, I think probably within the next two weeks.

If you're on Pacific's interview wait list, check your email!

I just got an email from Pacific University today around noon notifying me that I'm on the Tier 1 waitlist! Check your inboxes and junk mail folders!

I was 4 or 5 on the waitlist and just got an interview invite. I was told they had just invited 2 others, along with me. Open interview dates were for 13th and 21st of this month.

4 0r 5 on Pacific's waitlist? What tier were you on/in?

so UPS is appealing just to attend a different school, and I also really like that they have that onsite clinic.

I was talking to a PT (my boss actually) who went to Puget Sound. She liked the school, but she said the thing that drew her in initially was the onsite clinic and it ended up being the worst part about her experience. Something about the supervisor or person in charge of the clinic not really helping or knowing how to help ortho patients because he was neuro so he took a hands off approach. She didn't get much out of her onsite clinicals and they do very little clinical experience compared to other schools. Or at least they did back then I haven't looked now. Just something to consider from someone who has been through that program.

Hey guys! So it looks like we might be hearing back from UW this week or the next. In the past waitlists/acceptances have been sent by snail mail and rejections have been emailed. Remember you might be able to see the decision before your letter arrives by logging into the UWgrad application website and clicking "staus." Good luck!!

Hi all! Joining this forum a bit late. Accepted at UPS and Regis, interview offers from GF and Pacific but I turned those down as Puget SouND is a top choice. Has anyone checked their uw account yet? It'll be interesting to see how/when they disseminate the results this year. Good luck to all! It's nice to know others are in the same world of anxiety during this process :)

Unless I'm missing something from my original email, they did not specify a tier. GFU just gave me a number out of 31 total who were waiting for an interview.

Hey all. Just saw on the UW forum that one person has heard. The decision was posted on his uwgrad page. Has anyone else received news? My own status has not changed.

You got me all excited. No change in mine either.

Just a quick reminder/plea for those who've been invited to interview at Pacific: if you've been accepted elsewhere and aren't serious about attending Pacific to please cancel/decline your interview ASAP so that Ni'Cole will reach out to more of us wait-listers! Good luck to everyone and congratulations on your acceptances!

Got my official rejection via email. Good luck guys!

I called UW and received my rejection today. Good luck to everyone else!!

To those of you that interviewed at George Fox today, how did it go? Also I know they listed the dress code as "business casual", was everyone dressed as such or were people a little more formal? Good luck to everyone!

Just got my UW notification in the mail... #43 on the wait-list. I'm hopeful!

A lot of people were dressed casually. I only saw one suit, minus a jacket.

You had to call to get it? Did they not mail you, or were you trying to hear back earlier?

I called when I saw some people's status had changed on the app site and mine hadn't. My husband was offered a new job, but couldn't accept/decline until we knew if we'd be moving out of state or able to stay in Washington. I don't think she really wanted to tell me, but was willing to when I explained the situation.

43? Wow.. Does anyone know how many they hold on the waitlist? They must go through a lot. I have not heard from UW yet.. Maybe today.

Would you mind sharing your stats?

They included in their letter the amount of wait-listers that were offered admittance in the past 4 years. In 2014 they went all the way into the 80's, 2013 they went into the 70's... I can't remember the two years before that. It said there were 800+ applicants this cycle.

Sure!

Undergrad: University of Puget Sound
Major & Interdisciplinary Emphasis: Exercise & Neuroscience
GPA (according to UW): ~3.8, pre-reqs ~3.6 or 3.7 ish.
Observation hours: 2000+ outpatient ortho, aquatic, neuro, pediatric, home health, sports, & inpatient acute
Extracurricular highlights: 4 years athletic training aide, 3 months spinal cord injury research assistant, 7 years Special Olympics coach/volunteer, 3 months recreational therapist @ overnight center for kids (from European countries) with serious illnesses, 2 years A&P lab assistant, 1 year pool therapy assistant, various clubs and recreational activity involvement during undergrad...

Best of luck to everyone!

I wonder if UW is taking only or mostly only in state applicants again this year. I applied to 9 schools and got my first rejection (via email) and it was from UW today. I'm glad I got into so many other great schools, but it made me wonder what the heck UW is looking for in an applicant. Oh well, I haven't heard really great things about the program anyway lately so I guess I'm not too upset about it. I'd be curious to see who got accepted. I have two PT friends/coworkers who went to UW. Both of them told me I should go somewhere else. Ha. I guess I will be. :p  :whoa:

Actually, UW tends to admit more out of state applicants initially, while mostly instate applicants accept (One big reason why they burn through their waitlist). Hope that info is helpful!

I'm curious why your friends/coworkers weren't satisfied with their education at UW. Did they note any particular reason(s)?

I just got my rejection email from UW; and I am devastated. What do they look for in an applicant!!!??? Not to sound egotistical but my GRE scores are above their average and my GPA well above, at cumm: 3.89 and pre-req:3.84 with many diverse observation settings, what I thought were excellent letters of recommendation, and many activities in college. I would have never thought in a million years that I might not go to PT school in the fall with rejections from UPS, UW and a waitlist from EWU. Holy COW I am stressing....

I'm so sorry, @PT34. The schools here in the PNW are tough. All three of those programs are incredibly, incredibly competitive. When you're ready, you should ask them what they are looking for in an applicant that you didn't satisfy. The answer will probably be something along the lines of "your application was fine, but there were so many well-qualified candidates this cycle, etc. etc" but asking for feedback will reflect positively on you if you apply again in the future. In term of the wait list from EWU, I wouldn't be afraid to check in with them regularly on the status. It will show them that you're committed to being part of their program. I'm sorry for your devastation; I've been there, and I may be there again in a few weeks given that I'm still waiting on news from schools. Good luck!

Thanks for the input, I will be regularly checking in with EWU. I just was awe-struck though that I was not even given a wait-list. I naively thought that I would be for sure a top applicant for an acceptance/wait-list. I might have made an error somewhere in my application, but who knows. They won't give me any insight into the decision until after April 1st. What really bothers me though is that the rejection was not even written by the program, it was an incredibly generic email "written by" the Dean of Students, that is most likely used as a common template for all graduate programs at the university. Very unprofessional in my opinion. I understand the mass surplus of rejections that would need to be sent out; something written by the program director or something would have been nice.

PT34 I was pretty surprised by the rejection from UW as well. It does make me wonder what they are looking for. If I had struck out elsewhere I might have thought it was something in my essays or letters of rec since the stats are solid (both of ours), but I've gotten positive responses from so many schools now that I don't know what it is. I really think they did just get double the number of applicants this year. Last year they gave heavy preference to in-state applicants (took 70% in state, and only 30% out of state) I'm guessing they took even less out of state this time. As for you getting on the EWU waitlist, the current students I talked to a couple weeks ago said about half of their fellow students were selected from the wait list so don't give up yet! Come to preview/open house day and make a good impression. Hopefully you will get in.

I'm curious why your friends/coworkers weren't satisfied with their education at UW. Did they note any particular reason(s)?

They never said they weren't satisfied, although they both did say their Therapeutic exercise class was seriously lacking. They told me I should go elsewhere because of the high out of state tuition costs. Both are struggling with paying back their debt. They just kept saying I should go somewhere else, but weren't more specific than what I just mentioned. They do place a very heavy emphasis on the neuro component (which I like) and neither of them were particularly invested in going the neuro route so they weren't overly thrilled about that. I even emphasized my interest in neuro in my application and essays and did neuro shadowing. I don't know what UW wants in an applicant. I would be interested to know more about those who actually did get into that program.

Hi all! Anyone here planning on attending UPS? Going to the reception this week? Would love to meet/ talk to some future classmates!

I got accepted to UW (and declined, so hopefully that opens up a spot for someone!) For what it's worth, I'm a non-trad, out of state, with a 3.76 overall GPA, pre-req GPA of 4.0 and GRE scores of 170V, 153Q, 4.0AW. While it's impossible to know what the heck goes on in the adcom deliberations, I got the sense that UW, perhaps more than most schools, placed a lot of emphasis on the whole application rather than just the GPA-GRE numbers (although those clearly count too). In my case, I'm a former international humanitarian aid worker with a lot of experience working with really diverse populations. I was able to relate that to PT and especially to their essay about diversity, so that may be why I got a nod even though my GPA isn't as high as some of yours (and although my GRE is high, my quant score and AW are not great). Maybe once the stats/obs hours/letters are at a certain level, an out-of-the-box perspective or experience can tip the scales. Anyway - sending positive thoughts to those of you waitlisted!

@lemurien thanks for responding. We actually have a very similar sounding background. I'm a non-trad, out of state applicant as well. I got my psychology degree back in 2005 and worked as a counselor and behavioral specialist for a while with diverse populations so I also emphasized that in my essays. I definitely didn't do as well as you on my GRE scores except the AW (5.0) so I'm not sure. Oh well. So where are you going to be attending since you turned down UW?

^Yes, sounds very similar @DDJ... I guess that just reinforces how random the whole process is  I'm glad about your other acceptances, and hopefully the others on this thread will get some good news from the schools they are waiting on too.

I'm leaning toward Samuel Merritt (SF Bay Area) for family reasons (despite concerns about cost of living in the area!) I like their curriculum and small size, but ultimately it's personal factors that are determining my decision. What about you?
