Hey guys new to the forum,
This is a question for the ortho docs/PA's whom do orthopedic bracing as well.

Do you need a DME liscense to bill out and fit these braces?

I am an orthotist going to PA school shortly, I know that the experience I have is valuable....dont want it to completely go to waste. Do any of those who brace after surgery come up with problems because they are not "qualified" or "certified" to fit custom braces?

Now I would never attempt to mold and fit a pt for example with scoli as a PA, but some of the much easier bracing such as unloaders can be very profitable as I have seen.

The hospital I work at sends all of their ortho bracing to us, they are loosing a lot of money because they cannot bill out themselves....dont know why?

I may let my certification lapse if it is not an issue.

Looking for those with experience to help me out here.
