Oh thank heaven... I need help on UK/Aus/NZ!

I'm interested in moving to the UK permanently, or at least long term, for family reasons. I am about to begin applying to US medical schools this summer, and I would like to add some UK schools now. Would any of you please add whatever helpful bits you have to this post for me? I am at the very beginning of learning about the UK system, and with all the acronyms and abbreviations on here, it is difficult to know all the intricacies. Please just take a moment to jot down a few lines for me to help make this learning process a little easier. Thank you very much. Oh, for some background on me, I am an adult premed student (late 20s) at a top US school, I have just taken the mcat, and my US requirments will all be complete in a few weeks. Thanks again.
