Hello,
USIMG applying for peds.
Most of my interviews are at community programs (university affiliated) in the Northeast.

Step1:240s
Step2: 250s

Assuming I’ll have good research and LORs,
How much does it matter where I did residency when applying for NICU?

Thanks

You will be fine. NICU not competitive, tons of positions every year.

For most programs it won't really matter very much. For the most academic programs (perhaps 10-20 programs), being an IMG and doing a community residency will make it substantially less likely to match. However, there will be plenty of small academic research oriented programs that will take you. Make sure to do some research during residency, it doesn't have to be lab-based.
