Does anyone have any first hand knowledge of the salaries for first year dentists working at NHSC healthcare shortage area type sites (one's where you can get loan repayment)? Are the salaries competitive? I realize things vary w/ location, just trying to get a feel....
How difficult is it to get an extension on loan repayments beyond the first two years?
In my experience volunteering at the public health clinic, very few major dental procedures were performed by the dentists due to lack of ability of the patients to afford things like crowns & root canals. Is this the typical situation in public health clinics? Do the dentists in these jobs typically get to perform many procedures beyond fillings and pulling teeth?
