This is an exciting opportunity for the aspiring medical student, during a gap year between undergraduate studies and medical school, to assist in the treatment of patients in the heart of Silicon Valley as part of a busy Workers Comp Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Pain Management, Sports Medicine, and Occupational Medicine Practice in Mountain View and Redwood City.

The pre-medical interns will have the opportunity to work with world-class Physical Medicine and Sports Medicine physicians, see a broad range of musculoskeletal conditions, learn joint examinations, learn how to take good histories, and do a proper physical exam. Our goal is to provide a friendly environment with high-quality healthcare that is better, faster, and easier. This is a great opportunity to get hands on clinical experience, medical school interview training, and a good recommendation letter. Interns will have the unique opportunity to learn how a private practice management and obtain mentorship early on in their career. Many previous interns have secured admission into the top 20 medical schools in the country.

We are looking for students who have already completed their undergraduate studies and are taking a gap year before they start medical school. This is a full-year internship, not just for the summer. The start date is somewhat flexible but the internship will generally span from June/July->June/July

Responsibilities:
Assist physicians as they examine patients
Enter patient histories and physician notes using an EMR system
Learn how to draw up medications, write prescriptions, refill medications, follow up on authorizations
Communicate by phone, email and fax to referrals and fill out work-status forms
Enter patient information and scan paper faxes into EMR system
No call or weekend time required

Qualifications:
Already completed undergraduate studies
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. Strong English Grammar a must
Quick learner – ability to pick up and comprehend medical terminology quickly
Friendly and professional with excellent bedside manner
Ability to work in both Mountain View and Redwood City locations
High attention to detail
Team player
Passion for helping others in a healthcare setting
Efficient typing skills are a must

Plan to apply to medical school
Spanish speaking is a plus

Compensation: $17 per hour
