Two more notables, WVU Internal Med/Peds combined residency. WVU, since 2006 according to their website, has never accepted a D.O. for this program. Likely, this is the first D.O. ever to match WVU internal Med/Peds. I went to WVU and worked in that hospital, you don't see to many D.O.s running around so it's a big match.

Also, Urological Surgery Match as well (AOA)

Good call! thanks, I didn't even see that "current residents" web page, I had only looked at the graduates. So that means since 2006 they have had one D.O. haha. And that first one was from WVSOM like you said.

Just going out on a limb here and saying that they probably are becoming a little more open to DO's like most schools and took one first from WVSOM and now branching out a little more. Still a great match and good news for the DO world overall to keep seeing these trends

Yes. Many schools only list the prelim year.

Thanks for the reply! I was a little confused because some matches on the TCOM list are advanced positions that are listed even though they require a prelim year (Dermatology, Ophthalmology, Diagnostic Radiology, etc) but that one wasn't.

It could be that those folks are doing their prelim year at the same place as the residency or it could be built in to the residency. I know for neurology, some places have a built-in prelim year so schools list a neurology match for that person. However, some neuro programs don't have a built-in prelim year so people usually go somewhere else for intern year and med schools list that match as a prelim year or medicine, not mentioning that the student will only spend one year there and then go on to neurology at XYZ.

hahahha I dont know where you heard that. Our rotation sites are absolutely horrible. the school wouldn't care if we rotated at a doc in a box as long as they didnt have to pay the attendings. I have been to numerous pill mills for rotations. please please do not believe what youve read online. I would never wish upon another medical student to have to go to nova. I would honestly go to the caribbean before nova if i were re applying. you can ask any student or graduate they will never donate a penny to this school and that should tell you how much resentment and hate nova graduates have. our administration consists of some of the worst money grubbing scumbags in academia. noone around here would be surprised if some of the big wigs got arrested for corruption. it starts at the top with dean silvagni who has his hands in so many pockets i dont know when he has time to sleep. and it works its way down from there. incompetent professors, attendings that are leaving to take students from other schools, clinical ed staff that doesnt know a thing going on at their hospitals that they oversee, DMEs that are at the hospitals once a week on a good week. There are too many examples to even begin to crack the surface of how incompetent every single person that works for nova truly is.

When you go to nova you are in it on your own. you know that nobody is helping you to achieve success, and that motivates you because if you dont do it for yourself you are screwed. family med in north dakota screwed. so I believe that helps to explain the match list. please do not give credit to nova as a university and educational facility for the match list that was achieved 100% because of the students with no help from the school. the school not only doesnt help but they make every single thing harder on you.

It appears that most MSUCOM students stick with the AOA, which is also what others that went through the program have told me. I will most likely be going to MSUCOM (unless U Wash gives me some love this week - not likely

It appears that most MSUCOM students stick with the AOA, which is also what others that went through the program have told me. I will most likely be going to MSUCOM (unless U Wash gives me some love this week - not likely

Don't forget that MI is one of the few states that "require" an AOA TRI/PGY1 for DOs to get licensed. A lot of people probably plan to stay instate and don't want to have to deal with Res 42. You see the same sort of thing here in PA.

The school has traditionally matched most of its students into AOA programs. It has nothing to do with MSUCOM as an institution. People just want to go into AOA programs.

I think that class at msucom was something like 90% instate residents fwiw.
