Hi all,

I am a 27 year old Massage Therapist living in NYC. I run a private practice as well as work with Chiros and PT’s.

Recently, i Have felt the desire to dive deeper into the medical profession. Ultimately I’m looking for some guidance from this message board about my plan to pursue Pod-school. So here it is.
I graduate Massage school with 64 credits (science heavy) with a 3.5 gpa(awarded an Associates degree) This winter I will be attending a community college to finish my pre-req classes and gain more credits.
So I guess my question is that most podiatry schools require 90 credits, is it wise to apply after I reach 90 credits? Or is it better to finish the science program and then apply?

Please keep in mind massage school is accredited and most of my credits transferred.

Also, any advice on shadowing or volunteer work?

Thanks!

Apply after you finish their bare minimum.

No point putting that money and time into things that are unnecessary.

Email/call programs you're interested and see if they have hard requirements after 90 credits. You will get more accurate information from them.

Shadow multiple docs. Private practice, MSG, hospital. Know the bad and ugly, not just the good side.

Be realistic of what you are getting into. School is long and hard. Residency is another 3 years.

Agree 100 percent. Apply with minimum, time is precious
