I kind of feel some comfort in sharing my poems/writings here. I have received some encouragement from quite a number of members in this forum. So here goes yet another...dedicated to one who died too young (sometimes I wonder if that Billy Joel song "Only The Good Die Young" has some grain of truth to it).

For "L" (1974-2002)- Immortal Beloved (2004)

L- the first one that stirred
Feelings of love in my bosom
When I was barely a young woman.
L- the trajic poet,
Words were the opium that consoled you and me.
L-the brilliant student,
Everyone, including I, aspired to rise to your heights.
L-the talented musician,
Your voice cast a spell on everyone
As though you were a seraph sent from above.
We played the violin in the orchestra,
Exchanging timid, tender looks.
L- the freedom fighter, the peace maker,
The world traveler, and philosopher.
L- gone too soon to manifest the glorious genius,
The genius within you, waiting to be unleashed at the right moment.
When we last spoke, you spoke of death and yet you gave me words of hope.
L- you left me with the broken dreams of my girlhood.
L-now you reside on the top of Mount Royal...forever.

I left my heart buried in the mountain with you, immortal beloved.
I left my dreams of romantic love buried in the mountain.
I left my girlhood buried in the mountain.
I left two white roses, symbols of our pure love,
Left them with you on the mountain,
Although you could not hold them nor smell them.

Yet still, I carry on.
Yet still, I hear your singing, your song.
Yet still, I hear your voice in the wind.
Yet still, there is no other that can compare to this immortal beloved.
Yet still, no man has proven to have a soul as pure and true,
Deserving the love I have always had for you (15 years already).
Yet still, each season swiftly follows the next
And I grow old while you remain eternally young.

Here is a poem that "L" wrote when he was only around 16 years old. He was a genius in many things...poetry being one of those things...

World is lazy taking as the weeping goes on
And later later still after slumber comes the dawn
The sun its rising fashion left and soon will learn to fall
As the sorrow's near and all will fear
That it won't come at all
Hurt by the likeness that cool as the breeze is burning
To ash of the bodies that bleed
Encircling my own a heart turns to stone
And at once again all the bodies to bone
A requiem of sitar is the sparrow's new song
As dream a reality followed was gone
Out of the darkness and into the flame
With none left ever to love me again.
