Is There Any Pharmacist Who Likes Their Job????

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I was one of those geeks. Would have gone into IT but I found it boring when it didn't apply to gaming.

What's wrong with getting paid cash? That's my day-day expenses, food, poker/casino bankroll.

We have a law that mandates income tax in earnings and the employer must also pay the payroll taxes. Violation of this law is wrong. That is whats wrong.

Safety rules, and other regs and policies are put in place for reasons and good intentions. Once you break it once and get away with it or when simply walks by a violation, it becomes the next standard.

Sparda unfortunately this was allowed to happen many times in your life. Its going to bite you in the ass just like your failure to get a residency due to your lack of effort and bad grades. You aint no dummy. Youre just misdirected. People in your life including yourself failed to set you straight.

Youre probably a smooth talker and well liked but dont Bs a Bser...we can see right through you.

Do the right thing as said by your fellow country man russel peters. And make an effort everyday to be a good human being. It will reward you.

In my experience, people who have developed moral or ethical failings typically never get rid of them. Kind of like herpes.

Income tax evasion is still illegal as far as I know.

Plus, your employer is ripping you off and cheating the government. A match made in heaven, I guess.

How is he ripping me off? $45/hour taxed vs $35/hour untaxed. With the taxed option, I'd lose $15/hour. The government gets enough money from me at the hospital job. They don't need more $$$ to pay for weapons/ammo to kill more "terrorists" with. I've asked around with other independents in the area and it seems that $45/hour is the going rate at most of these places unless its a chain.

Of course I will never hire an Indian boy who is a touro c/o 2012 pharmacy....he will probably self medicate using my inventory and say "whats wrong with that....i work with these drugs."

Wow....you really dont get it do you.

Your "weapons/ammo" argument is invalid. Paying taxes is the law. You're breaking the law.

About your salary, it IS a ripoff. We discussed this in another thread. Significantly below market value. I'm in a southern/midwestern city and make more than $35/hour AFTER taxes at my independent pharmacy job. Your salary is a good deal for your boss, not for you. Plus, he's cheating you by not paying your SS/Medicare taxes. If you become disabled, you'll get a smaller check because you haven't paid in as much.

You know nobody is perfect.... but sparda... you got some work to do.

I would never hire you.

I get it perfectly. I know income tax evasion is illegal. I think its more unethical that I allow my $$$ to be used to help kill other people.

Oh, get off your high horse. You're fine with it because you think rules don't apply to you and have very weak personal ethics.

Even if I believed you had a serious conscientious objection and felt a true moral aversion to paying taxes, I'd tell you that you can't correct one moral wrong (unjust wars) by committing another (breaking tax laws). Excuses, excuses, excuses...

I love my job. I work for a pharmaceutical company. I work retail for three hours on Wednesday and on Saturdays. I don’t know if I’ll be able to work every Saturday forever, but I appreciate the patient contact and extra funds for now.

what do you do with the pharma company?

Whoa I missed all the action. Clinical/hospital jobs are not for everyone. Personally, after I graduated, I never wanted to study or read another pharmacy journal ever again. Which is why I love retail: it's so simple, and when your shift is over, you're out the door and can do whatever you want. Definitely no journals for bedtime reading! But if you are the gunner type, yeah you'd love the jobs at Its Z's hospital.

Morally questionable and ethically challenged people have an uncanny ability to justify their actions. Sparda you are one of the best at it! It is not something you should be proud of.....

BS. Just making more excuses...

Plus, even if I believed that independents in NYC pay 20% less than in Kentucky, you and your boss are still breaking the law with the cash thing.

One independent did offer me $55/hour but they are a good 30 minute drive with no traffic (2 hours in traffic) away from my place, plus having to pay $12 in bridge tolls every day sucks. Not to mention, this place shares a backyard with a hookah lounge (take a shot, ppl), owner of the hookah lounge leaves us a few hookahs in the backyard to smoke throughout the day.

3 yrs plus BCPS doesn't mean too much these days...everyone has BCPS, so it doesn't make you special.

Z - can I be your clinical coordinator?

I already told him in that thread getting paid cash is not a good idea to forgo SS and medicare contribution. Your employers make money off you.

Disability through medicare has a very strict restrictions that most people will not get approved lol... get your own disabilty insurance... it's much better coverage.

Are U any good

I probably lack some experience on the administrative side of things - 2 yrs out of residency...have done some corporate wide initiatives. Learned a lot in the process.

While I agree that one needs private disability insurance, it's not THAT hard to get on Social Security Disability (not Medicare disability). There is kind of a cottage industry of people getting "on the draw" in this state.

I work really hard but no more than 40 hours per week. I work smart and do things others cant do.
And most importantly, i make a crap load of money for my organization...im going to pay my clinical manager $80+ per hour + 30% in benefit package and bonus incentive of 15% + 4 weeks of vacation m-f no weekends and no holidays.

Completion of residency mandatory.

Have you published or presented at major meetings?
Have you ever presented a clinical initiative to hospital admin?
Do you have leadership experience?
Have you managed or precepted pharmacy residents?

How do you think you will stack up against people with 5+ years of above experience?

Board certification?? Aint going to get u too far.
You're a gold mine of information. I think if I set myself up to your standards, I'd be able to get a residency and a job anywhere!

Give me some advice, I'm only a P1. What can I do now to better myself to potential employers? I know the president of our school's ASHP (FSHP) does so many things it is incredible, and I think to myself how will I ever compete against that??? She goes to conferences like Medicine 2.0, wins scholarships, and many other things.

Get a hospital intern job. Get good grades. Study to learn not just pass the test.

Find a mentor. If you want to go into academia then a professor. If health system then a dop or clinical manager. Do projects. Present at professional conferences.

You wouldnt be able to adjust to this conservative Outdoor travel destination foothill town.....coming from a major metro.

I got 1 B...onco got me ...My overall gpa is a 3.81 and my mba gpa is 4.0....Most importantly is my landmark study poster I'll be presenting at midyear ;)

And I'm gonna come see it.....

What grades did you get in therapeutics?

I got A's and A+'s

You're right though, I love me a good major metro city. I lived in a small town for undergrad and was happy to leave (it wasn't that bad though). Plus I hate most of CA, but probably not the part you live in. I do dislike bugs...

I might have to go on a victoria's secret shopping spree on the backs of medicaid babies so I can shop my sorrow away.

Mmmm....my fave kind of shopping spree!! I do it with all the money I save from my food stamps and welfare checks the state sends.
