Medical Is not having a leadership position an app killer? (MD)

I have pretty much everything else, but leadership is the one thing I do not have. How important is being a president or vice president in a club? I also am applying in 2 years, so should I look for leadership positions?

Not important. It's a nice thing to have but not necessary.

Don't worry about it. Basically, it's another checkbox but I would not sacrifice your GPA, MCAT, volunteer, and shadowing for leadership experience.

Thanks for responding. I've noticed that some common interview questions involve describing leadership. How would I answer this then? And also, would being a TA and holding weekly review sessions count as leadership?

For me, no.

I want to know how you motivate others, listen to concerns, identify problems, develop consensus, or make difficult decisions. So I want to know why you think you are a leader, and being a TA to be doesn't do it. Too many premeds tutor or teach that this example really doesn't work for me.
