You can't take it in the intervening year either? :( There's got to be a way to finagle the pre-req if you really want to, or else.. or else..

I am planning on taking anatomy some time before dental school. The only thing is that I can't guarantee that I will take it. The main reason I am turning down the interview is that I don't want to go to Indiana. Not because of the school, but because of the distance. I am getting interviews much closer to my home (Metropolitan New York), and I would rather stay here. I hope I open a spot for some other guys or gals who want interviews.

I have seen posts that indicate being scheduled early on in the interview cycle can be perceived as a positive? (I am specifically referring to posts by those scheduled for the first interviews at Case.) I was wondering if anyone knows if this is true at UMDNJ as well? I think I might have one of the earliest dates, 9/24 and was wondering if I can perceive this as a positive?
I have read horror stories on this board,where some schools call you in and shoot you down. (My cousin interviewed at Temple 4 yrs ago. They told him to re-take the DAT and reapply. He did and was accepted the following yr; he graduates this yr.) I checked the interview feedback site for UMDNJ and one student who interviewed there last cycle, said UMDNJ did not wait til Dec 1 to let them know; the student said they were "ranked" as to their chances during the interview and found out by the time they got home that they were accepted. I got really excited reading this until I realized the date of that interview was in November, so it was already near the end of the cycle and almost December;so that was probably the only reason they were told right away????? Any thoughts or real info from experience???
 
In my opinion earlier is always better. You have better odds since you are earlier (more spots are still open for the taking), your folder will pass the committee more, it shows you have initiative. That being said I was actually the first person interviewed at one school this year :cool: . I don't think it could be considered a drawback in any way - except for the fact that you wont hear anything until dec 1.

i always HEARD that marquette only gave interviews to in-state residents...i'm not sure why though...

i think because half the class is from wisconsin and the other from out of state. although its a private school it partially funded by the WI govt. so wisconsin residents get a little discount. its also the only dental school in the state so its more competitive for wisconsin residents.....I think

I'm also out-of-state (from Florida) and getting interviewed by Marquette. They sent me a letter a few days ago.
