While learning how to do interproximal restorations I've noticed that my school doesn't necessarily teach technique that well. For the most part they tell us the material to use, and then tell us that we need to prep and recreate the anatomy. Mine are good enough to pass the criteria for school, but I wouldn't want to send a patient home with a restoration that looks like my current skill level.

What materials and techniques have you used to help you:
-isolate the tooth
-create proper contacts/ contours
-build up interproximal margins
-recreate triangular fossae
-etc?

For mannequin, I would jam the largest wedge and use a decent amount of force (way more than the limit for human teeth). Then burnish very hard with a blunt instrument. Works every time.

For humans, I use smallest or second to smallest wedge for premolar and anterior or a large wedge for posterior. Burnishing becomes critical so I burnish hard. Or I use Triodent which much thinner than Toffelmire.
