interest in Oncology...

If you are interested in the field of Oncology(aka: cancer doc)...is the D.O an acceptable profession to practice oncology?

If I'm applying this summer(to DO schools), should I mention that I'm interested in becoming an Oncologist?

I know of 2 DO oncologists in my city (out of somewhere around a total of 25 oncologists in the city).

As to whether or not to mention your interest? Depends on the school. Some DO schools like to hear every interviewee say that they are willing to consider primary care, while others really don't care what specialty you are interested in.
