If a school is known as a "waves" school

Does this mean they accept and reject in waves, or just reject in large waves?
Specifically talking about University of Kentucky. Interviewed 10/26, they told us we would hear back later that week (11/2), and a friend of mine who interviewed the same day and I haven't heard anything.

Trying to relieve the nerves because they meet every first and third Thursday of the month.
